One of the core features of Accurate.Video Validate is the ability to easily review multiple subtitle tracks, with support for SCC, TTML, WebVTT, SRT and STL formats.

Last autumn we released an update of Accurate Player that included support for IMSC subtitles as well. We revisit that feature update and are happy to announce that IMSC is included into Accurate.Video Validate as well.

IMSC is based on Timed Text Markup Language (TTML), standard defined by The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as “...a content type that represents timed text media for the purpose of interchange among authoring systems. IMSC is specifically defined as “...a file format for representing subtitles and captions''. It uses XML to describe content, timing, layout, and styling, thus allowing for very exact positioning, and styling of the subtitles and captions.

Just like all other supported subtitle formats in Accurate.Video Validate, IMSC can now be displayed, both on screen and in the timeline. Each instance is easy to locate and verify.

This means that you are able to:

  • Activate, and deactivate, one IMSC subtitle file from a list.
  • View subtitles on the video with pixel accurate positioning in Validate and in full screen mode.
  • Display a safe-area on top of the video to validate cue positioning.
  • Access subtitle cues in the timeline.
  • Ingest IMSC subtitle files to an asset.

Apart from being useful in validation of content for specific playout purposes and environments, the addition of IMSC as a subtitle format in Accurate.Video Validate is part of future proofing our platform for formats such as IMF.
